Commission to create a 3D Mirror Carp

This commission began with a simple request to create a 3D Mirror Carp. This was completed using a barbed needle and wool.

The client was so pleased with the result that he wanted to display the carp in a frame. The fish therefore required a backdrop. After considering various options, it led to a second commission to create a wet felted, background abstract image of a murky underwater pond scene.

Once the two elements were complete, they were box framed by KPA Framing in Newquay.

The client was extremely happy with the result.

Experiment with an Antler

Thought I’d try and replicate a Red Deer antler found on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, Scotland. Using wool from a Shropshire lamb, the antler is slowly sculptured using only a barbed needle. There is no internal structure, the shape is purely made of wool. It’s amazing what wool can do. A little work left to do on the points and tips but please see the results so far…
